{"id":43,"date":"2008-12-01T07:09:33","date_gmt":"2008-12-01T15:09:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.sabusense.com\/?page_id=43"},"modified":"2011-09-11T16:47:16","modified_gmt":"2011-09-11T20:47:16","slug":"connect-the-dots","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.sabusense.com\/?page_id=43","title":{"rendered":"Making Sense of this Site"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Sense-making<\/em> isn\u2019t always easy.\u00a0 Sometimes it seems more like a puzzle.<\/p>\n<p>And in life, as on the game board, there often appear to be two general kinds of puzzles.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Some are like jig-saws where we start with the <em>Big Picture<\/em> already on the cover of the box.\u00a0 We have the <em>solution<\/em>, and our challenge then is to test through trial and error to find out how the pieces fit it.<\/li>\n<li><em>Connect-the-dots<\/em> puzzles are the other type. Here we start with seemingly random &#8220;dots&#8221; and seek moments of insight that enable us to connect them until the shape of the &#8220;big picture&#8221; begins to emerge and give meaning to initial randomness.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Because in our education system today we seem overloaded with &#8220;dots&#8221; that don\u2019t seem to connect into a &#8220;big picture&#8221; that makes holistic sense, the views presented on this site are a product of both types of puzzle-solving operations.<\/p>\n<p>They are framed by a different <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sabusense.com\/?page_id=2\">Big Picture<\/a> that offers a coherent logic model for better understanding how the parts fit, and are supported by fifteen years of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sabusense.com\/?page_id=9\">dot-connecting systemic experiences<\/a> of a large US school system as it simultaneously addressed the learning needs of its students and staff.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sense-making isn\u2019t always easy.\u00a0 Sometimes it seems more like a puzzle.
